The Southampton Society of Model Engineers (SSME) is a vibrant and historic club dedicated to the pursuit, practice, and promotion of model engineering. Founded in 1986, we offer a welcoming environment for hobbyists of all ages who share a passion for miniature locomotives, steam engines, precision machining, and craftsmanship.
Our home is the Riverside Miniature Railway, where members and the public can enjoy live steam train rides, open days, and educational demonstrations. Whether you’re an experienced engineer, a curious beginner, or a family looking for a fun and educational outing, SSME has something for everyone.
We believe in passing down practical engineering skills, encouraging innovation, and fostering lifelong friendships. Join us and discover the joy of building, learning, and riding on a smaller scale.
